ice cream in swanageAmber and I  stayed in a lovely little place this easter gone.It was the pines hotel in Swanage. It  has an excellent restaurant and the staff were nice and the views are to die for. Set on a cliff top with unspoilt views, with a steep staircase down to the beach it’s a real treat for lover sof the sea and clifftop views.I paid £120 per night for us both which was a little on the dear side, especially as they wouldn’t give a discount for my daughter who is 12, still that aside the views were gorgeous and It was a nice base to plot up and visit the surrounding sites and countryside.

It was a well run hotel but seemed more suited to older couples, at least it seemed to have a lot of elderley people milling about. Still, nothing wrong with being old :) I’m getting there myself :D

Swanage has a fantastic beach set on the south coast of England. On a beautiful sunny day you could be forgiven for think that you were on some mediterraean beach. The beach is of white sand and stretches along the coast for about 3 miles (my estimate)

We visited Lulworth Cove (see below)  and Corfe Castle, and passed through various gorgeous little villages as we meandered our way through the Dorset countryside. You can see from the pictures below that we were very fortunate with the weather, as I believe temperatures hit an unseasonal 21 C or 70f. I was absolutely amazed by the quality of the water there too, it was crystal clear and I was almost tempted to go in for a swim!

If you are ever looking for somewhere nice to stay in England, then seriously  you could do far worse than visiting Swanage.  It’s tucked out of the way a little so it isn’t as packed as some of the other more well known places like Bournemouth of Newquay in Cornwall for example. So if you do visit, then enjoy! If you need to book a hotel there then you might find this dorest hotels link handy.
